Dozens of Yale students, staff, and faculty ran in New Haven’s 38th annual road race this Labor Day, a few days after term began. Some 3,000 runners signed up for the 5K race, which took them up Whitney Avenue, to East Rock, then back down Whitney to finish at Temple Street. (Here, runners are passing Timothy Dwight College on Temple.) Just under 2,000 additional runners went the distance for the 20K.

“It’s a great way to get out and see the city, a great way to get connected to New Haven,” says Mark Levenson, operations manager for Ezra Stiles College and coordinator of the Stiles contingent—50 strong. “The city did an awesome job,” says Stiles sophomore Lauren Tucker ’18. “People were lining the streets cheering you on, random bands were strategically placed along the course, and firemen were passing out water.”
