YaleChicago, YaleChicago Performing Arts, and AAAYA present an exclusive brunch and stimulating conversation withVijay Iyer ’92 before his appearance at the Chicago Humanities Festival. A jazz musician, composer, educator, and polymath whose career spans the sciences, humanities, and the arts, Iyer has been described by Los Angeles Weekly as“a boundless and deeply important young star” and by Minnesota Public Radio as “an American treasure.”

The Grammy-nominated composer-pianist’s most recent honors include the 2013 MacArthur fellowship; an unprecedented “quintuple crown” in the 2012 Down Beat International Critics Poll (winning Jazz Artist of the Year, Pianist of the Year, Jazz Album of the Year, Jazz Group of the Year, and Rising Star Composer), a Doris Duke Performing Artist award, and a permanent appointment as Harvard University’s Franklin D. and Florence Rosenblatt Professor of the Arts.
