How many people affiliated with Yale died during the AIDS epidemic in America? The recent alumni who have launched the Yale AIDS Memorial Project want to find out—and to tell the stories of those who died. Their goal, says the group’s website, is to “make the epidemic palpable for a younger generation and help stimulate an AIDS memory boom.”

The group’s inaugural project is a print journal—the first in a series—with biographies and remembrances of eight students and faculty members (shown here) who died of AIDS. Go to yaleaidsmemorialproject.org to learn more, or to add someone’s name to the record.
