Yale’s endowment earned about $4 billion in the fiscal year that ended June 30—a return of 20.2 percent. That brings the fund’s total value to $23.9 billion, enough to surpass the peak reached before the financial crisis of 2008. Spending from the endowment this year will total $1.1 billion, about 34 percent of Yale’s net revenues. The endowment is managed by a team led by David Swensen ’80PhD.
