Longtime Yale football coach Carm Cozza is fond of saying that running back Dick Jauron ’73 was so elusive that “you could be in a phone booth with him for 20 minutes and never touch him.” Jauron—shown here scoring an 87-yard touchdown against Columbia in 1972—is best known as a player and then a coach in the NFL: he was head coach of the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions. But his Bulldog career will be recognized in December when he is inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Jauron is the 24th Yale player to be selected, and the first who played after World War II.
