John Kerry ’66: new Yalie at Foggy Bottom

The Washington Post calls him a "ready-made secretary of state." John Kerry ’66 has been concerned with matters beyond our shores since he served in—and later protested—the war in Vietnam. He has dealt with world leaders and international incidents as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. And, as Republicans were fond of pointing out when he ran for president in 2004, he speaks awfully good French. Last Friday, President Obama officially nominated Kerry to succeed Hillary Clinton ’73JD as secretary of state.

If he's confirmed—and most pundits think it'll be no problem—Kerry will be the eighth Yale alum to serve in the post. And, for the conspiracy-minded among you, the third Skull and Bones alumnus.
