New Haven Make a Wish Foundation

September 30, 2014 at 6:00 pm
Rose Alumni House — New Haven, CT

The Make-A-Wish Foundaton is seeking volunteers from the Yale Alumni family in the New Haven area; your entrepreneurial spirit and desire to positively impact the lives of children is needed.

As a member of a small volunteer team, you will help a child identify and deliver their most heartfelt wish.  "Wishes" have been in many forms and have included trips to Disneyland, meeting an admired adult, or, like Tehya (pictured above), organizing a fundraiser for the homeless (yes, a young person with a challenging illness "wished" an opportunity to help others; how wonderful is that?).  At every phase of the wish granting process, you will be supported by Make-A-Wish staff who are amply equipped with many resources and contacts.  Once a wish has been delivered, no further commitment is needed (though you may enjoy staying in touch with your new friend and their family).  It will come as no surprise that many volunteers "re-up" mulitiple times to continue serving others.

If this unique service opportunity interests you, please attend an informational meeting to learn more about the initiative to learn and discern how you may best serve these children.  Dr. McNamara of Yale-New Haven Hospital and members of the Make-A-Wish Foundation will present important information and answer your questions.
