Heartbreak in HanoverExcept for a brief moment just before halftime, Yale led Dartmouth for the entire game in their men’s basketball matchup tonight. Until the end. With a chance to clinch its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1962, the Bulldogs were stunned by a last-second Dartmouth jump shot and left Hanover’s Leede Arena with a 59–58 loss. So the emotional roller coaster continues for Bulldog fans, who just last night secured a share of the Ivy League title for the first time since 2002 with an exhilarating win over Harvard. With Harvard’s win over Brown tonight, the Bulldogs and Crimson finish the season as Ivy cochampions. But only one team can take the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, so the two will sort it out by playing for the third time this season at Philadelphia’s Palestra arena—date and time to be determined. ___________________________________________ The Yale Alumni Magazine is published by Yale Alumni Publications Inc., an alumni-based nonprofit that is not run by Yale University.
