Richard Hertz Seidman died on January 3, 2024.  He was 85.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he was the son of Judge Saul Seidman and Lillian Hertz Seidman. A proud alumnus of Yale University (1960) and Yale Law School (1963), Richard attended football games at the Yale Bowl for over 70 consecutive seasons until his retirement to Florida. He practiced real estate law for over 50 years and was a tireless volunteer leader. Richard served as past president of the Yale Club and Scholarship Foundation of Greater Hartford as well as of the Yale Law School Association of Hartford and Eastern Connecticut, and he served on the association's national governing board. He was a recipient of Yale's Nathan Hale Award. Richard also held leadership positions for a wide variety of charitable, political, religious, and civic associations throughout his career. A lifelong Rotarian, he was a proud past district governor of Rotary International District 7890; during his term as district fundraising chair he helped raise over $1.8 million for the eradication of polio.

Of his many accomplishments, none brought him more joy than his five decades of marriage and the happiness and success of his children, children-in-law, and grandchildren, with whom he spoke daily. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Susan; his four children: Rich (Sharlene) Seidman, Rob (Lindsey) Seidman, Charles (Beth) Seidman, and Elizabeth (Chris) Treble; and his ten grandchildren: Katelyn, Lilly, Drew, Brooks, Sloane, Barrett, Jordan, Mary, Riley, and Cameron.

A memorial service will be held in spring 2024 in West Hartford, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rotary Foundation, 1560 Sherman Ave, Evanston, IL 60201.
