In Remembrance: Keistutis P. Devenis ’48 Died on May 28 2023

Keistutis Peter “Pete” Devenis of Jonathan Edwards College died peacefully at his home in Concord, Massachusetts, on May 28, 2023, at the age of 95. He lived a long and happy life, and his connections and interests—established during his time at Yale—were important.

Shortly after his birth, his parents returned to Lithuania, their country of origin, and they came back to America in 1940. Peter graduated from Mount Hermon School  where he developed his interest in soccer, and he was on the Yale varsity soccer team. He was also a graduate of MIT and obtained MS and CE degrees in civil engineering. He was drafted into the Army at the outset of the Korean War and served at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

After military service he spent his career in the field of hydraulics on pollution control and completed many projects in various parts of the world. In 1983 he won the Presidential Award for Design Excellence. He enjoyed many hobbies, including golf, travel, and poker and he was the president of his country club in Concord. Peter was predeceased by his son Jonas and his former wife Luanna, his brother  Algirdas who was Yale ’47, and his sister Dalia; he is survived by his wife Inga and daughter Luanna who is Yale ’78.  He will be missed by his family and all who remember him.
