The best and most difficult part of art school at Yale is the honest feedback. How do you learn to listen to criticism without being too hurt? I think it takes time, but you really build a thick skin. And also at Yale you meet with different professors every week, so you’re constantly getting polarizing feedback. So you finally learn to listen to yourself and your own voice. What is the style of your work? I make large color-field paintings, where images come in and out of focus. Snakes and flowers and landscapes emerge. What’s next for you? Getting a studio in New York. I’m very excited. Can you make a living doing this? Yes. Yes? Yes.
