Gathering brings Los Angeles–based alumni together

In January, the School of Music held a reception for alumni and friends at the Line LA in Los Angeles. The event, organized in continued celebration of the school’s 125th anniversary, followed a similar event held at the Metropolitan Club of the City of Washington in September, and an all-class reunion in New Haven in October. The gatherings in the District of Columbia and Los Angeles gave alumni who couldn’t attend the reunion a chance to reconnect with one another on their own turf.

Collection of Musical Instruments reopens with new brass exhibit

An exterior renovation project at the Yale Collection of Musical Instruments has been completed and the museum has reopened with a new exhibit on display. Resounding Brass: From Conch Shells to Silver Trumpets, which explores the evolution of brass instruments and features pieces from the collection’s holdings and items that were donated by collectors and other Yale museums, is expected to be on view for the next year or so. In addition to publishing an exhibition catalog, the collection will present two related lecture/concerts featuring School of Music faculty and guest artists in April.
