Students accompany deputy dean to Capitol Hill

Craig Manbauman ’25MSN and Bar Hass ’24MSN accompanied deputy dean Tatiana Sadak on an advocacy visit to Capitol Hill on March 25. Sadak and the students engaged with legislative officials and their staff members to discuss the statewide and national nursing shortage, as well as policy priorities around nursing and healthcare. The students also represented YSN and Yale at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Student Policy Summit, where they focused on the federal policy process and nursing’s role in professional advocacy.

These events provided a platform for YSN student leaders to engage in discussions on key policy issues affecting nursing education and practice. Following their participation in the summit, Manbauman and Hass were also invited to share their experiences and key takeaways with our student community. This will be a valuable opportunity for all of us to learn from their insights and engage in discussions on important policy issues affecting our field.
