Speaker series helps nurses embrace sustainability goals
The 2025 Global Collaborative Series, “Aligning Advanced Practice Nursing with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” launched on January 22. This monthly program, cohosted by the school’s Office of Global Affairs and Planetary Health along with Vanderbilt School of Nursing and the University of Michigan School of Nursing, aims to empower nurse leaders to embrace the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and highlights how advanced practice nurses (APNs) can lead in advancing the SDGs through actionable strategies and real-world applications.
The inaugural session featured Carol Ziegler, cofounder of the Climate, Health, and Energy Equity Lab at Vanderbilt, who provided practical examples of how APNs can make meaningful global health impacts by integrating the SDGs into their daily work. Future sessions will feature speakers from around the world to offer diverse perspectives and strategies for APNs to actively contribute to planetary health.
