Professor honored by alma mater

The University of Connecticut School of Nursing has selected YSN associate professor and PhD program director Robin Whittemore to be the recipient of the 2014 Marlene Kramer Outstanding Alumni Award for Research in Nursing. The award honors former UConn School of Nursing dean Marlene Kramer and recognizes distinguished UConn nursing alumni who have demonstrated excellence in nursing research. Whittemore’s research focusing on lifestyle change to prevent and treat type-2 diabetes has helped improve health behaviors and psychosocial outcomes in youth at risk for obesity and youth with type-1 diabetes.

Connecticut nurses honor YSN faculty

The Connecticut Nurse’s Association (CNA) has chosen YSN associate professor Heather Reynolds to receive the 2014 Florence S. Wald Award for Outstanding Contribution to Nursing Practice. Reynolds has been a part of the YSN community for many years, continually contributing her excellence in the nurse-midwifery area. The CNA award honors individuals or organizations that have made outstanding contributions to nursing in the areas of practice, education, administration, political action, and service to CNA.
