Scholarship honors deceased alumnus

A scholarship fund at the School of Art has been established to honor the memory of alumnus, professor, and artist Karacabey Levni Sinanoglu ’96MFA, who died unexpectedly in his New Haven studio on June 1. Sinanoglu, the son of retired Yale professors Paula Armbruster and Oktay Sinanoglu, majored in painting at Yale, receiving the Arnold Bittleman Prize for painting in 1995 and the Alice Kimball English Traveling Fellowship at graduation, which enabled him to travel extensively in the Middle East. Subsequently he held academic positions at Yale, Hampshire College, Quinnipiac University, and Gateway Community College. Gifts to the Karacabey Levni Sinanoglu ’96MFA Memorial Scholarship Fund may be sent to the Office of Development at PO Box 2038, New Haven, CT 06521.
