Students’ studios open to the public
The School of Art will host its annual graduate open studios on April 5 and 6. Featuring work from the Departments of Graphic Design, Painting/Printmaking, Photography, and Sculpture, Open Studios offers the public the opportunity to witness the working processes of the students at the School of Art firsthand. Studios will be open to the public and are located across three buildings on Yale’s campus in downtown New Haven: 1156 Chapel Street, 353 Crown Street, and 36 Edgewood Avenue. The two-day event is complemented by a series of community-organized programming, with a full schedule to be made accessible on the 2025 Open Studios website when it launches in March at yaleart.org/openstudios.
Celebrating student and faculty accomplishments
We’re excited to share recent awards and exhibitions of current students and faculty! In November, Nic[o] Brierre Aziz ’25MFA (sculpture) was named the winner of Project Row Houses’ Southern Survey Biennial, after being one of seven artists selected to participate in the project’s second iteration. Senior critic in design Pamela Hovland ’93MFA curated an exhibition at MoCA CT titled ColleCTomania: Outsized Influence of Swiss Posters, featuring 140 “world format” posters from the vast archive of New Haven–based designer, photographer, and collector Tom Strong ’67MFA. Finally, Lisa Kereszi, assistant director in photography and senior critic, was one of many celebrated artists to participate in Pierogi 30, the Pierogi gallery’s 30th anniversary exhibition, in New York City.
