Jackson School affiliates selected for Rhodes, Marshall scholarships
Victoria Kipngetich, a senior global affairs major, has been awarded a Rhodes scholarship, which provides all expenses for two to three years of study at the University of Oxford. She is one of four recipients from Yale this year.
Another Jackson School undergraduate student, senior Bobby Atkinson, was awarded the Marshall Scholarship, which funds up to three years of graduate study at any university in the United Kingdom.
Climate Fellows convene at UN climate summit
In December, 11 members of the Jackson School’s inaugural cohort of the Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship program convened at the COP28 climate conference in Dubai, where they participated in thematic panels and private discussions on a range of global climate challenges.
The Jackson School climate fellows first met at Yale in fall 2022, where they engaged with members of climate-related research centers on campus and faculty members working on climate-related issues. The six-month fellowship program continued with a series of remote sessions and concluded with a weeklong session at the International Energy Agency in Paris. The program, which recently announced its second cohort, aims to build a community of rising climate change and clean energy leaders from emerging and developing countries.
Honoring professor’s 40 years at Yale
In November, the Jackson School hosted a conference in honor of Paul Kennedy, J. Richardson Dilworth Professor of History and Global Affairs, to celebrate his 40 years of teaching at Yale and the indelible mark he has made on the field of international history. During the conference “Rethinking Great Power Politics,” former mentees presented papers that reflect on Kennedy’s work and demonstrate the ways in which his ideas have assumed new afterlives, continuing to shape the dialogue around international, diplomatic, and military histories.
