YSD production season features student directors

Yale School of Drama’s 2019–20 season, which includes three fully produced plays created entirely by professional artists and managers in training, began in October with Mr. Burns, a post-electric play by Anne Washburn, with score by Michael Friedman and lyrics by Anne Washburn. Kat Yen ’20MFA directed the production, which featured additional music by Liam Bellman-Sharpe ’20MFA. The season continues December 14–20 with Fun Home, based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel and featuring music by Jeanine Tesori, book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, and direction by Danilo Gambini ’20MFA. Logan Ellis ’20MFA will stage Alice, conceived by Robert Wilson, with music and lyrics by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan and libretto by Paul Schmidt, February 1–7. In May, the School of Drama season will conclude with the Carlotta Festival of New Plays, featuring work by the graduating class of playwrights performed in rotating repertory.
