Yale canceled its undergraduate program at Peking University in July, just months after renewing the six-year-old partnership last December. The program allowed up to 20 Yale students to live and study alongside Chinese students at the Beijing university. Yale College associate dean Jane Edwards said that Yale “could not attract a critical mass” for the program; only four Yale students had signed up for this fall.

An undergraduate was expelled last semester after Yale’s committee on sexual misconduct found that he had committed “intimate partner violence” against a female undergraduate. This incident was one of 49 documented in the latest semiannual report on sexual misconduct complaints. The report, part of Yale’s attempt to be more transparent about its handling of such complaints, also included five updates on previously reported complaints. Among the updates: responding to a complaint by a graduate student, a faculty member was suspended for two years without pay after he admitted to a violation of the university’s consensual relations policy.

After being arrested in the wake of an altercation, Will McHale ’13 requested suspension as captain of the football teamin July. The Yale Daily News reported that McHale punched another student in the face at Toad’s Place in May. The student needed 14 stitches. McHale will remain on the team.
