Goethe once described architecture as “frozen music”—but guests at a party celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library in January were treated to some frozen architecture. In addition to an ice sculpture of the iconic modernist building, the party featured music, period clothing, and projected images from the early 1960s. The Beinecke’s anniversary celebration continues throughout the year with readings, lectures, and exhibitions.
