The School of Medicine is not establishing a center to train military personnel in interview techniques, despite reports that came out in February. Psychiatrist Charles Morgan III ’97MA, an associate clinical professor at the school, had applied for a Department of Defense grant to fund such a center. But after some confusing responses to media queries, both the defense department and the university said the grant had not been approved and the center will not go forward.

The renovation of Hendrie Hall, long delayed by the economic downturn, is expected to go forward next year. Hendrie houses rehearsal space for the School of Music and undergraduate groups. The $45 million project, which includes an addition that will link Hendrie to Leigh Hall, will include more practice rooms, an orchestra hall, and a recording studio.

Cory Booker ’97JD will address the Yale College Class of 2013 at Class Day in May. Since 2006, Booker has been mayor of Newark, New Jersey, where he’s developed a reputation for personal engagement with his constituents. (He famously ran into a burning building last year to rescue a woman.) Booker is running for the US Senate in 2014.
