Light & VerityLaw School honors ClintonThe former secretary of state gets an alumni award. Mark OstowView full imageFormer secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton ’73JD was on campus in October for the Law School’s Alumni Weekend. Besides celebrating the 40th anniversary of her graduating class (and that of her husband, Bill, who was also on hand), Clinton received the school’s Award of Merit and delivered a speech to a full house at Woolsey Hall. Focusing on the needs of children and how she became aware of those needs during her years in New Haven, Clinton’s speech avoided overt presidential politics, although she is widely viewed as a candidate for 2016. “When Secretary Clinton left the Obama administration earlier this year, certain pundits did speculate that she might sometime soon seek to add one last elusive line to her résumé,” Law School dean Robert Post ’77JD said in introducing Clinton, drawing noisy applause from the audience. “I’m very happy to say that today with this award we can prove them right.”
