Scene on CampusAbove it allFlying over New Haven with a Sterling professor. David Ottenstein ’82View full imageOne clear day in November, we got a chance to tour the skies over New Haven, thanks to Sterling Professor of Hispanic and Comparative Literature Roberto González Echevarría ’70PhD. As a Sterling Professor—Yale’s highest academic title—González Echevarría already holds an elevated post at the university. But he’s also a pilot and an avid member of Yale Aviation, a group that provides the Yale community with flight training and the use of two single-engine planes. Particularly noteworthy from the sky were the centenarian Yale Bowl and other landmarks of the university’s athletic fields—including the distinctive blue turf of Johnson Field, home of the field hockey team.
