Mark Zurolo ’01MFAView full imageFor years, the medieval scholar who overlooks the main entrance to Sterling Memorial Library has had to put up with seasonal visitors atop his head. Every spring, a family of sparrows takes up residence in a nest that is nicely protected by the statue niche. Amanda Patrick, the library’s communications director, says the nest had to be removed for the cleaning and restoration of the library façade during 2013–14. “I was worried that this might chase the birds away for good,” says Patrick, “but as soon as everything calmed down again, they were back. They certainly have a keen eye for the best real estate on campus.”
