An exhibition of ancient glass from Yale’s collections opened in August at the Art Gallery. With 130 pieces that date from Egyptian times to the late Roman Empire, Drink That You May Live: Ancient Glass from the Yale University Art Gallery demonstrates the technical and artistic evolution of glass. (The exhibition runs through November 12.) But considering the medium—and human clumsiness—we couldn’t stop looking at pieces like this third- or fourth-century Roman pitcher and thinking: “How did somebody never drop you?”
