An online auction clears out Commons.

To prepare for the upcoming renovation of Commons and Memorial Hall as a student center, Yale sold most of the furnishings from the dining hall in an online auction. On January 23, trucks lined up on Grove Street as souvenir-hunting alumni and others carted away everything from salt shakers to refrigerators—and lots and lots of chairs. The Schwarzman Center is scheduled to open in 2020.
