Scene on CampusOut to the ball gameA historic football rivalry in historic Fenway Park. Mark OstowView full imageIn late October, Fenway Park was full of fans watching the Boston Red Sox in the World Series. By November 17, the diamond had been converted to a gridiron for the 135th Yale-Harvard game, and Yale placekicker Blake Horn ’19 (shown here) found himself doing his pregame practice kicks on turf as historic as the Bulldog-Crimson rivalry. In front of 34,675 fans, Harvard took the win on its adopted home field, 45–27. (For more on The Game, see page 53.) Fenway’s career as a football venue was short-lived: the next day, the park hosted four Irish teams in the ancient Gaelic sport of hurling.
