View full imageThe 2018 midterm elections may have shaken up the established order, but the number of Yale alumni in major offices was little changed. New faces elected this year include Josh Hawley ’06JD, US senator from Missouri; Katie Porter ’96, elected to the US House from California; and Governors Ron DeSantis ’01 of Florida and Ned Lamont ’80MBA of Connecticut. Lamar Smith ’69 (D–TX) retired from the House, Bill Nelson ’65 (D–FL) was defeated in a Senate reelection bid, and Governors Jerry Brown ’64LLB (D–CA) and Mark Dayton ’69 (D–MN) did not run for reelection.
