Light & VerityIt pays to advertiseA match made in our classified pages. View full imageBy the end of 2020, we at the Yale Alumni Magazine needed cheering up as much as anyone. And cheer arrived, although we hadn’t expected it to show up in the New York Times wedding pages. In early January, the Times ran a short piece about a match that had started in our own magazine: Liz Schneider, a professor at Brooklyn Law School, and Ben Liptzin ’66, a retired geriatric psychiatrist and professor, connected via Schneider’s 2017 personal ad in the Yale Classifieds. She was seeking an “intellectually engaged, warm, funny, kind, energetic, and politically progressive man.” When they met, says Schneider, “It was quite remarkable. Ben really was all of those things.” Liptzin confirms, too, that she was a “pretty, blonde, professionally accomplished Manhattan woman, warm, funny, kind, sociable”: all as advertised.
