Sometime in the not-too-distant future, students sitting in a sleek modern classroom at 90 Wall Street might imagine they were hearing the ghostly echoes of an amplified voice calling, “Slices are ready!”

Two and a half years after Wall Street Pizza (formerly Naples) shut down, the university has shared its plans for the first-floor space where generations of Yalies talked over pizza and beer—or perhaps rice pudding and cinnamon toast. The restaurant (shown here after it was gutted recently) will be converted into three classrooms and lounge/study space. Having classes meet there might be new, but for many alumni from 1950 through 2019, conversations at Naples were an essential part of a Yale education.
