Mark Alden Branch ’86View full imageOne of the most heartening sights on campus this spring was the opening of the Old Campus gates in April. The gates to Yale’s oldest quad, traditionally open to visitors during the day, had been closed since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. Now, anyone can pass through the portal of Phelps Gate and intone, as freshman Dink Stover did in Stover at Yale, “This is it—this is Yale.”
