Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed an audience at the School of Management via live video feed on October 28. Speaking through a translator, Zelenskyy talked about the war with Russia and answered questions from students.

Two undergraduates and a group called Elis for Rachael filed a class-action lawsuit against the university on November 30, claiming that the policies for students who withdraw from Yale College and later seek reinstatement discriminate, illegally, against those with mental health disabilities. The suit alleges, for instance, that Yale’s policies deter students from seeking mental health treatment accommodations. University spokeswoman Karen Peart said in a statement that Yale “is confident that our policies comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Nonetheless, we have been working on policy changes that are responsive to students’ emotional and financial wellbeing.” On December 7, Yale and the plaintiffs asked the court to put the proceedings on hold while they “discuss ways to resolve the complaint and achieve their mutual goals.”

The Yale employee who stole $40 million from the university has been sentenced to nine years in prison. Jamie Petrone admitted that over several years, she had used her purchasing authority at the medical school to buy computer equipment in Yale’s name, then resell it and keep the money.

Former women’s soccer coach Rudy Meredith was sentenced to five months in prison in November for his part in the Varsity Blues admissions scandal. Meredith pleaded guilty to accepting bribes in exchange for falsely claiming that applicants to Yale were soccer recruits. He was also required to pay a $19,000 fine and forfeit $557,774.
