Light & VerityTour of dutyAn online look at Yale and the military through the ages. The Yale Veterans Association (YVA) wants to take you on a virtual tour. In collaboration with the Yale Visitor Center, the group has assembled a set of 44 online images illustrating how Yale and the US military have been linked through the centuries. Stops include the 1927 war memorial in Hewitt Quadrangle, Nathan Hale’s Old Campus statue, and John Trumbull’s Declaration of Independence painting in the Yale University Art Gallery. (Above, the Yale Naval Training Unit drills on Old Campus in April 1918.) “From the Revolutionary War to the return of ROTC on campus, every Yale generation has been shaped or touched by veterans in some way,” said US Navy Commander Erika Monique Schoenthal ’16MBA, chair of the YVA board of directors, in an alumni association article.
