Charlie Cole ’07: Another Eli rower brings home a medal.

Our apologies in advance if you think it’s redundant to have Olympic medalists as Yalies of the Week for two weeks straight; we promise it’ll only happen every two years. This week, we celebrate rower Charlie Cole ’07, who won a bronze medal on August 4 as part of the US four-man boat—the third Eli to bring home a coveted souvenir from London. Cole’s crew, which included two former rivals from Harvard and Princeton, finished the 2000-meter race behind Great Britain and Australia, the two boats that led for the entire race. In an e-mail to the Yale Daily News, Cole said he and his team had planned to attack in the last quarter of the race. “We executed pretty well and gave ourselves a chance at the end, but we didn’t have enough to get ahead,” he said.

When he hasn’t been training for the Olympics, Cole has spent his time on another kind of training. He and a fellow rower launched Milestone Academic Counseling, a tutoring and academic-coaching service for high schoolers in Princeton, New Jersey.
