Mike Fremont ’44E: A 90-year-old marathoner sets a record. Again.

Mike Fremont ’44E came in second-to-last in the Marshall University Marathon this week.

Finishing 592nd out of 593 doesn’t sound so impressive—until you realize that Fremont was born during the Warren G. Harding administration. Running in West Virginia this Veterans Day, he set a marathon record for 90-year-olds: 6:35:47. Three months ago in Ohio, Fremont set another world record for 90-year-olds in the Little Miami Half Marathon. His time of 2:56:26 sliced a full 25 minutes off the previous record.
