Two wheels are better than oneFor those times when wheels are needed but Zipcar seems like overkill, the Yale community now has a new option: bikesharing. Launched today—Earth Day—as part of Yale's "Celebrate Sustainability" week, the new service allows members to borrow bicycles for up to 24 hours from any of 10 campus locations. Registration costs $20, refundable for those who take a bike safety class. As with Zipcar, reservations can be made online or by text message. The bikes come from Zagster, a company in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Yale's Transportation Options office is piloting the bikeshare for six months; it adds to an existing program through which university departments can get free commuter bikes for campus use.
