'However far I can pedal' for vets

"As a veteran I have been lucky twice," writes Neil Mulligan ’01MFA: "First as an infantryman in the relatively quick Gulf War and second as a medic in the relative safety of a military hospital in Afghanistan."

Now, says Mulligan, "I want to do something to help those who were not as lucky." So the technical director for the Yale Repertory Theatre is spending his summer vacation on a bicycle, raising money for veterans' charities.

Mulligan started his journey in Portland, Oregon, on June 1. By July 4, he hopes to bike about 2,500 miles, camping nightly and raising contributions for the Fisher House Foundation, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, and Veterans' Voices. Supporters can pledge online here and see daily photos here.
