"Advocacy—whether it’s on immigration, gay rights, or other matters—rarely gets politicians’ attention [without] organized campaigns composed of broad coalitions," the Washington Post notes. So Neera Tanden ’96JD has done just that: launched a coalition of broads, and others, to advance women in the American economy.
The president of the Center for American Progress, Tanden announced the new effort—“Fair Shot: A Plan for Women and Families to Get Ahead”—on September 18 with a pair of heavy hitters: House minority leader Nancy Pelosi and Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Barack Obama. The coalition also includes Planned Parenthood, the Service Employees International Union, and other liberal organizations.
Fair Shot will conduct both research and advocacy to address "how women [have] plateaued over the last decade," Tanden tells Fox News."Our focus is on ensuring that women and families have a fair shot.”
