Weekly sports roundup (12/16–12/22)

With reading period and finals behind them, the women's and men's basketball teams hit the hardwood with three games last week. (The rest of the winter teams were off.)

The women's team made almost twice as many points as Saint Peter's in a game on Thursday: the final score was 66–35. The top scorers were Alexandra Osborn-Jones ’14, who made 12 points, and Janna Graf ’14, who added 10. Graf is now just nine points shy of reaching 1,000 for her career. The Bulldogs (5–6, 0–0 Ivy) will squeeze one more game into 2013, when they take on Kansas on December 29.

The results were disappointing for the men's team, which just barely lost to both Providence and Albany. The scores were 76–74 and 70–62, respectively. But Javier Duren ’15 scored a career-high 26 points in the game against Albany and Justin Sears ’16 made a career-high 31-point performance in the game against Providence. The Bulldogs (5–6, 0–0 Ivy) will now take a well deserved break before returning to competition on January 4, 2014.
