Weekly sports roundup (12/23–12/29)

In the midst of the holiday season, it's off-time for most of Yale's athletic teams. But the women's basketball team traveled south to take on Kansas. Although the 79–63 loss may have come as a disappointment, Janna Graf ’14 became the 18th woman in Yale history to score 1,000 points over the course of her collegiate basketball career. Playing in her home state, she scored a total of 17 points against Kansas.

The only other team to compete last week was the men's ice hockey team, which returned to Ingalls Rink to take on the Russian Red Stars in a non-conference game on Friday, after almost three weeks off the ice. The No. 11 Bulldogs came out on top with a score of 6–3. They then went on to defeat Holy Cross with a score of 4–1 in a second non-conference game. In 2014, one game remains before the Bulldogs (7–3–3, 3–2–3 ECAC) take on Harvard at Madison Square Garden on January 11.
