So closeNobody can walk away satisfied with a loss—certainly not the eighth straight loss to your archrival. But Yale’s football team had much to be proud of after the 131st edition of The Game today. They held the undefeated Crimson—who were favored by 12 points—to a field goal in the first half, going into the locker room with a 7–3 lead. And when Harvard’s offense exploded with three unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter to make it 24–7, the Bulldogs fought back, scoring 17 points of their own in the fourth to tie it up with 3:45 left in The Game. But a bold long pass by the Crimson with 0:55 to play put them up 31–24, and Yale’s last-minute drive to tie it up was stopped by a Harvard interception to end The Game. The result aside, it was another thrilling installment of a legendary rivalry, amplified by the presence of ESPN’s College GameDay—a Saturday morning football preview show—broadcasting from outside Harvard Stadium.
