Mystery Monday: carved in stone

Some names and some dates—where on campus was this photo taken, and what do these stones represent? We’ll update this post with the answer tomorrow. UPDATE: The stone dated October 8, 1917, is the cornerstone for the Harkness Memorial Quadrangle (now Branford and Saybrook Colleges). The stones below it were taken from buildings demolished to build the quadrangle. Besides the old Peabody Museum and Pierson Hall (a dormitory on York Street), stones from the old DKE and Zeta Psi tombs are included. ___________________________________________ The Yale Alumni Magazine is published by Yale Alumni Publications Inc., an alumni-based nonprofit that is not run by Yale University.
