Open and shut

A few years ago, the shutters on Connecticut Hall were falling apart. Most of them dated at least to the nineteenth century, and the simplest solution would have been to replace them. But the university, working with David Thompson Architects, instead repaired and restored the existing shutters, maintaining a link across the ages on Yale’s oldest building.
