Saybook College’s Killingworth Court is on the former site of the original Peabody Museum of Natural History. So to celebrate its 150th anniversary, the museum sponsored a competition among School of Art students to design a scupture for the courtyard. The charge: base the scupture on a one-third scale model of the Torosaurus sculpture outside the current Peabody. Lucy Lindsey ’17MFA proposed the winning entry. Titled Coal Futures, it is covered in anthracite and coal slag. Lindsey's artist’s statement links ancient extinctions to contemporary ones due to climate change.
