In New Haven, Super Bowl Sunday is also the day of the Run for Refugees 5K, a race that benefits Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services. Just before yesterday's race, the Yale Gospel Choir (above) sang Irving Berlin’s "The New Colossus," with Emma Lazarus's famous words "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” More than 3,000 people—including hundreds of Yale students, faculty, and staff—participated in this year's race, which raised more than $100,000 to aid refugee resettlement in the New Haven area.
