Forty years ago, on May 6, 1981, the design of Maya Lin ’81, ’86MArch, was revealed to be the winner of the competition for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. Lin was a Yale senior at the time; we reported on her achievement in our Summer 1981 issue.
