Lazy, hazy, crazy

Another commencement is in the books. With reunions happening online this year, the campus is already settling in to the relative quiet of summer in places like the librarian's courtyard. Alums, did you ever spend a summer on campus? What do you remember most about it?

The summer of '73 I worked on my senior project in Joel Rosenbaum's lab in Kline Biology Tower. I shared an apartment near Science Hill with two other classmates. I got to know the large friendly Sicilian family downstairs. I got to see Yale and New Haven at their most beautiful, dressed in deep green. So fine. So THIS is why people live back East! (I was born and raised in Los Angeles.) Best of all, no time pressure.
There was no Yale summer school back then. I understand that has all changed, and thus a good topic for the YAM to analyze. In my opinion Yale should use some carbon credits to put AC in some of the "original" 12 colleges for "summer school". Yale staff and the New Haven business community might like the added income.
