In 1972, we reported on the loss of one of the last remaining elms that once lined Hillhouse Avenue. The denuded view seen here will be familiar to older graduates, but a new generation of trees has since come into its own on Hillhouse. See the second photo for a view from roughly the same spot, taken yesterday afternoon.
