Stone cold

Saybrook College’s Wrexham Tower is loosely modeled on St. Giles’ Church in Wrexham, Wales, where early benefactor Elihu Yale is buried. In the base of the tower is this stone from the church, which, as we reported in 1921, “the good men of that congregation exchanged with Yale for a first-class American refrigerator.”
